On behalf of the Carnival Committee, I welcome you all to the 2024 Carnival website which will provide you with all the information that you will require to ensure that you don’t miss any of the exciting activities we have planned for this year.

During the past six months the Committee have worked tirelessly to organise a variety of events and activities that I am sure will provide something of interest for everybody to enjoy.

The Carnival Committee are acutely aware of the impact caused by the continuing and difficult economic environment, and I am pleased to confirm that, due to the support of our various sponsors, there will be no entry charge at the recreation ground again this year. In addition, some of the activities will be subsidised by the Carnival to reduce cost and to make the event as affordable as possible.

For those of you visiting us for the first time, Corfe Mullen Carnival was founded way back in 1966 and started as a small village fete. The event has taken place every year since, albeit it has grown considerably and in 2000 the event expanded from a one-day event and now includes multiple activities throughout the year attended by over 6000 people annually and raising thousands of pounds for local good causes.

The primary aims of the Carnival are: -

  1. To promote community participation and inclusion.
  2. To raise money, support and awareness of local and national organisations that provide a direct benefit to the community of Corfe Mullen.
  3. To organise multicultural activities.
  4. To promote links with schools and community groups and provide a mechanism for them to showcase and promote their work.
  5. To promote health and wellbeing.

To achieve these objectives the Carnival organises and funds the following key activities: -

  • The Christmas tree and festive light display.
  • A Christmas parade through the village.
  • A festive creative partnership with local schools and youth groups
  • Multiple Quiz nights
  • Prince and Princess selection event.
  • Family Fun Day (free admission).
  • Carnival day with over 80 stalls, main arena events, dog show, food village, bar and entertainers (free admission)
  • A performance stage
  • A street parade with 600 children participating
  • A 5k and children's 1mile run

The website has been designed to enable you to navigate your way easily and quickly to the specific information you require. We have provided one click tabs with links to all of the important information planned for the year including entry forms, directions to event locations, links to our charities and sponsors details.

Each year the Carnival raises money for organisations and local groups that have a direct impact and benefit to the community of Corfe Mullen.

This year the Carnival will be supporting:

  • Friends of Lockyer’s school
  • Corfe Mullen and Wimborne First responder
  • Wessex Heartbeat
  • The Louis Ross Foundation
  • Diverse Abilities

Please visit the “who we support” tab where you will find further information regarding the fantastic work carried out by these organisations. A large proportion of the money raised by the Carnival will come from collections made during the street procession on the 8th June, so please do give generously.

On Carnival Day the procession will commence at 1.00pm and travel through the village, please be sure to wave and cheer the participants along the route. Carnival activities will open at the recreation ground at 1pm with over 80 stalls and traders providing entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Popular attractions back for 2024 will include a mobile Farm, a chance to meet the Hope Farm Alpacas, train rides, circus skills, crazy golf and much much more. Once again, our partners from the Hillside Veterinary Practice will be organising a fun dog show, so please bring along and enter your family pooch.

On the performance stage there will be live music and entertainment throughout the afternoon with performances by The Ukulele Band, the Lockyer’s School choir, the fantastic Sodapops and this year’s headline award winning band will be Rum Soaked.

For additional information please also visit the Corfe Mullen Carnival Facebook page.

Finally, it just leaves me to thank you for your continued support and to wish you an enjoyable Carnival.
