We are receiving many enquiries regarding likely weather impact on the Carnival. We have reviewed the forecast and spoken to the Environment Agency, and indications are that the weather is improving early Saturday with an extremely low risk of showers during the Carnival period. Wind speeds may be high but are not high enough for the Environment Agency to issue any formal or informal alerts.
Based on this assessment, we will be proceeding with the Carnival and Procession as planned.
The wind poses the greatest challenge and we will be taking steps to manage our response to it appropriately.
Participants should ensure that costumes and floats are suitably wind-resistant. Stall holders should equip themselves with sufficient guy ropes and pegs for any tents etc. that they plan to erect at the Recreation Ground.
