Corfe Mullen Carnival Committee Constitution

  1. The Organisation shall be known as The Corfe Mullen Carnival Committee.
  2. The Committee shall be made up of a minimum of 6 persons:
    • Chairman
    • Vice-Chairman
    • Secretary
    • Treasurer
    • and at least 2 others
  3. The aims of the Committee will be to annually fund and organise a Carnival Event within the village of Corfe Mullen, Nr. Wimborne, Dorset.
  4. The proceeds of the street collection will be donated to local charities or good causes in accordance with Local Authority Street Collection Permit (Police, Factories, etc. (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1916)
  5. The Financial Year is 1st September - 31st August. The accounts are published annually.
  6. All monies will be held in a recognised financial institution and all cheques/online payments are signed/raised by the Treasurer and 1 other (being either Chairman / Secretary, or whoever the Committee elect). All incoming cheques are made payable to Corfe Mullen Carnival Committee.
  7. The AGM shall be held during the month of September.
  8. At the AGM, Officers are democratically elected.
  9. The benefiting charities / good causes will be decided during the AGM.
  10. Meetings will be held at regular intervals.
  11. The Committee are empowered to hold functions for fund-raising purposes.
  12. The Committee will ensure that adequate Public Liability Insurance is provided for the period of the Carnival Event.
  13. The Committee will ensure that adequate Health and Safety precautions are taken on Carnival Day.
  14. The Committee will arrange a contest to select a Carnival Prince and Princess and a number of Attendants for the Carnival. Minimum age of participants is 7 years of age on Selection Night, and they must be resident or attend school in Corfe Mullen.
  15. Should it be necessary to dissolve the Organisation, any funds would be distributed to local charities. This would be decided at an EGM.
  16. Alterations or additions to this Constitution can only be made at an AGM or an EGM.
