The Louis Ross Foundation is a family run organisation based in Tarrant Keyneston. The aim is to make a difference for young people leading troubled lives whether these be through emotional or physical challenges. The Foundation was born following the tragic loss of Louis’s life in a skiing accident in December 2015, when the family were inundated with stories of Louis as a wonderful friend, someone who noticed those with problems, someone whose humour and fun lit up a room and who took action to help those who needed it. Thus the mission statement became – helping young people facing difficulties.
The Foundation has in the last six years donated over £150,000 to organisations and individuals mainly in Dorset. The numerous projects have included completing a kitchen makeover so that it was accessible for wheelchair access, providing clothing and trainers for a vulnerable teenager to Poole, providing a soft floor environment for a baby who was constantly reliant on an oxygen tank and so unable to move and funding for a safe garden makeover for a child who due to his PICA ate everything in sight.
The success of the Foundation is reliant on fundraising and there are numerous projects being considered by the Trustees. The support of the Corfe Mullen Carnival will be gratefully received to enable this work to continue on projects in the Blandford, Wimborne, Corfe Mullen Wareham and Poole areas.
